Before I entered the Trade Mark profession, I spent a number of years working for large multinational companies, running the offices of various Chairmen, Chief Executives and Managing Directors. I then joined a major international food products company in 1995, where I worked as an in-house Trade Mark Attorney, managing the protection of a portfolio of major brands in the UK, Ireland & Benelux. Following this, I worked in two London private practice firms, where I handled the trade mark work for a wide variety of international clients in numerous industries, including food and beverages, chemicals, rail transport, cosmetics, consumer electronics, car maintenance products, hotels, restaurants and entertainment.
I joined Dummett Copp LLP in 2013 and from my time in both industry and private practice, I bring to the firm a wealth of practical experience in Trade Mark matters, including: Trade Mark clearance searching for UK, Community, Madrid Protocol and overseas Trade Mark filings and prosecution; opposition, revocation and invalidation proceedings; appeal proceedings; and domain name disputes.
I am passionate about client care and am known for responding quickly to clients and for giving advice that is both practical and commercial.
I have set and marked one of the professional Trade Mark examinations, tutored students in preparation for their Trade Mark final examinations and written the UK chapter for the book, Trademark Practice and Forms Treatise.
I qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2003 and am also a European Trade Mark Attorney and European Designs Attorney as well as being a member of the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys.
In my spare time, I enjoy the theatre and visiting art galleries and museums, am a Life Member of the National Trust and like walking in the country.
