Qatar Joins the Madrid System
Qatar has officially joined the International Trade Mark system (Madrid Protocol). The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) made this announcement on 6th May 2024, making Qatar the 115th member of the system. The Madrid Protocol will enter into force in Qatar on 3rd August 2024.
If you are interested in obtaining trade mark protection in Qatar and have already filed an International application at WIPO via the Madrid System, then it will be possible to add Qatar as a subsequent designation after 3rd August 2024. If you haven’t yet filed an International application and were thinking of doing so, then it will also be possible to include Qatar in your application after 3rd August 2024.
